S2DEF was started by music journalist Jen Boyles in the spring of 2008 after she got sick of friends and acquaintences incredulously chripin’, “You don’t have a blog!?” when she told them she hadn’t yet subscribed to the blogosphere (the proverbial bandwagon’s a beeeyotch, yeah?). Jen most notably writes for URB Magazine (she has done several covers, including the Next 100 ‘07 cover feat. Kid Sister), BPM Magazine, New City, Download.com, and CityPages (where she is an editor).
